A graduate of Stirling University, Paul Huntley joined McCreath, Simpson & Prentice in 1984 as a member of the seed team. In those early days Paul qualified as a licensed seed sampler and crop inspector and learnt the ropes of the certified seed industry, building the knowledge which would stand him in good stead in future years.
Assuming responsibility for the Seed Grain Department in 2000, Paul has a career spanning over 30 years in the seed trade and brings a wealth of experience to his role as Cereal Seed Manager. Working closely with plant breeders, seed treatment manufacturers and growers, Paul strives to select the best varieties for Simpsons Malt farmer customers and to provide them with the highest standards of seed quality, service and advice.
Paul’s extensive knowledge of the industry is recognised throughout the country. Formerly AIC Seed Sector Chairman for Scotland, he now sits on the MAGB Malting Barley Committee and the Scottish Variety Consultative Committee (SVCC) and plays an active role in the Pro Seed Group of seed companies of which he is the current Chairman.
