For many years, MSP have shown their support for the club through various means, including an advertising board, match sponsorship and programme adverts, while also entering the annual draw alongside many other local businesses to become main shirt sponsor.
This summer, MSP were successful in the draw, resulting in brand exposure over Scotland, with the First XV’s Tennent’s National League Division 3 fixtures taking the team everywhere from Ardrossan and Greenock in the west, to Howe of Fife in the east and right up to Caithness RFC in Thurso.
The nationwide fixtures came as a result promotion from the Tennent’s East Region League Division 1 last season, where the team went through the entire campaign unbeaten. That, coupled with a stunning comeback success in the Men’s Shield Final in April – where the team came from 35-16 down to win 57-35 after extra time – means that it’s an exciting time for MSP to have a greater presence around the club on matchdays.
MSP Commercial Director, Andy Hindhaugh, said: “With MSP having farming customers across Scotland and as far north as Caithness, and the team’s fixtures taking them to all corners of the country this season , it was perhaps fitting that we were drawn out as the main shirt sponsor of Berwick Rugby Club at this time.
“The First XV have been a real sporting success story in the town over the past 12 months and it’s been fantastic to see the team’s form carry over into this season, all while wearing their new MSP sponsored shirts. We’d like to wish the team the best of luck for the remainder of the season and I’m sure many of our staff will head along to Scremerston throughout the season to show their support.”
Berwick Rugby Club First XV Captain, Tom Jackson, added: “As a club, we’re indebted to the support of all the local businesses who, each year, pay to go into the draw to be named our shirt sponsor for the forthcoming season.
“MSP are just one company that have been loyal in their support of the club for a number of years now and I hope that their season of sponsorship is a successful for both the company and for us out on the pitch.”
