About John
John grew up on a small family farm in Newcastle-upon-Tyne that farmed sheep and had horses, as well as some horse liveries.
In 1989, John went to Kirkley Hall Agricultural College in Northumberland and attained a National Diploma in Agriculture. After graduating in 1993, he spent one year in Australia and New Zealand, and gained invaluable experience.
When he returned to the UK in 1994, John spent one year working on local farms and then, in 1995, he got a job at a livestock marketing business, buying and selling livestock – a role he remained in until he joined MSP as a Farm Trader in 2010.
In his role, John works with farmers in south Northumberland, Durham, Cumbria and even as far south as Yorkshire.
Away from work, John is a big rugby fan and is heavily involved with Morpeth Rugby Club. Since 1987, he has also competed in the main family sport of Horse Carriage Driving.
